ChondroFiller pathway
CFI++ChondroFiller Injection + MSC + Arthrosamid

How CFI++ works
Three layers, one visit
- 1
CFI (ChondroFiller Injection) rebuilds and cushions the worn surface, laying a fresh collagen scaffold over the damaged joint.
- 2
MSC (Medicinal Signalling Cells), your own repair cells, supercharge the regeneration from inside the scaffold, adding the biological signal that drives new tissue formation.
- 3
Arthrosamid is intended for symptom management in adult knee osteoarthritis. It is not proved to slow degeneration or improve the performance of the other components.
The three components have different proposed aims. Direct evidence for the complete combined pathway is limited.
A hopeful alternative
Every advantage, before replacement
When a joint is very worn, replacement assessment may be appropriate. CFI++ is a three-component pathway that some patients may wish to discuss, but stage alone does not establish suitability and direct evidence for the complete combination is limited.
We are honest about what this can and cannot do. The outcomes for very worn joints cannot be inferred from evidence for an individual component, and for some joints replacement remains the right answer. Professor Lee will explain which path is defensible after reviewing your scans and clinical picture.

Candidate Profile
Who is CFI++ for?
CFI++ may be discussed only where each component has a separate clinical rationale. Advanced wear should also prompt a balanced replacement assessment. The right fit is considered at consultation with imaging and examination.
Good candidates may include
- Very worn or bone-on-bone joints, where cartilage loss is advanced
- Patients considering a non-surgical option without assuming replacement will be delayed
- Joints that are both severely worn and inflamed or reactive
- Patients who want to give their joint the maximum regenerative support available
- Adults with knee osteoarthritis only where Arthrosamid is part of the plan
Where caution is needed
- A focal early defect: CFI or CFI+ may be a simpler, more appropriate fit
- Where joint replacement is genuinely the right answer: Professor Lee will say so honestly
- Untreated joint instability or major malalignment
- Active infection (joint or systemic)
- Mechanical locking or catching: may need the keyhole Liquid Cartilage™ pathway instead

A core part of this approach
Your own living cells, working inside the scaffold
This approach pairs the ChondroFiller scaffold with MSC (Medicinal Signalling Cells), your body's own repair cells, in the same visit. The scaffold gives new tissue a structure to form into; the cells add the biological signal that supports the rebuilding. In early studies the combination has shown even greater improvement than the scaffold alone.
Harvest, on the day
Your own Medicinal Signalling Cells (MSC) are gently harvested during your appointment, from bone marrow, fat or platelet-rich fibrin. The source is chosen with you at consultation.
Load into the scaffold
The cells are placed inside the ChondroFiller collagen scaffold. The scaffold holds them exactly where they are needed, so they stay put rather than dispersing.
Stay and rebuild
Held in place, the cells add a biological signal that supports the cells doing the rebuilding, working alongside the scaffold to drive regeneration.
The cell source and handling are agreed at your consultation with Professor Lee.

Cost
From £10,500
CFI++ bundles two injection packs plus the MSC component. The two-pack injection tier covers one ChondroFiller injection and one Arthrosamid injection; the MSC component is included in the from price. The exact number of ChondroFiller packs your joint needs is confirmed at consultation following an imaging review.
If you do not have a recent MRI scan, one can be arranged from £450. The consultation and scan review are the right first step to confirm whether CFI++ is the appropriate approach for your joint.
CFI++
Frequently asked questions
What is CFI++?
CFI++ combines a ChondroFiller scaffold, an autologous MSC component and, where it has a separate indication, Arthrosamid symptom management for adult knee osteoarthritis. Direct evidence for the complete combination is limited. All three elements can be delivered without surgery in a single visit where each is clinically justified.
Is CFI++ really an alternative to joint replacement?
CFI++ is not proved to delay or avoid joint replacement, and evidence for the complete combination is limited. For some joints replacement is the more appropriate answer, and Professor Lee will say so honestly at consultation. If you want to explore where joint preservation may help and where it may not, read our guide on ChondroFiller vs knee replacement.
How much does CFI++ cost?
CFI++ is from £10,500. It is a "from" price: it bundles the two-pack injection tier plus the MSC component. The exact number of ChondroFiller packs your joint needs is confirmed at consultation following an imaging review.
Is CFI++ surgery?
No. CFI++ is delivered as injections in clinic, under image guidance. There is no general anaesthetic and no incision. If your joint needs a keyhole approach instead, Professor Lee will discuss the Liquid Cartilage™ surgical pathway at your consultation.
